How do u change the headlight on a 1993 ford explorer?

i cant seem to get the cover offHow do u change the headlight on a 1993 ford explorer?Do not try to get the lens/reflector housing off from the front. The lamp is connected to the outer housing by a ring, located at the back.

Open the hood, find the rear of the headlamp housing, and twist the retaining ring. Depending on the side, you may have to remove the battery for clearance. At the base of the lamp is a small plastic hold-down. There is a thumb lever on that hold-down. If you cannot disengage with your thumb, use a flat-blade screwdriver. Pop out the existing lamp, and replace with a new lamp. Reverse steps to install.

What type of lamp you will need is printed on the plastic base of the lamp. Look for 9006, 9005, etc..The shape of the lamp can also tell you what type is needed.

WARNING!!!. Do not touch the glass part of the new lamp with your bare fingers. Use gloves, a rag or even a Kleenex.

Why? because the salt from your sweat can react with the lamp and cause it to explode when power is supplied to it, thereby making you do the same job all over again. How do u change the headlight on a 1993 ford explorer? If you have a composite style headlight then you remove the bulb from the rear of the housing. If it's the older square glass style sealed beam then there should be a few screws holding a trim ring in place which holds the headlight to the bucket. Remove the screws and the ring will come off with the headlight.
