I'm thinking of changing my headlight to a halo headlight. I've seen plenty of decent priced ones all over ebay, but don't exactly know which one is the most reliable.
Also, I have a white integra, is it better to get the chrome headlight or the black housing headlight? I'm thinking the clear chrome one.
And lastly, are the halo lights bright when driving at night?

They are cheap because they are poorly built, often times you'll find water being able to get into the headlights, making it all foggy because the headlights are poorly sealed. Then on top of that, the most common problem is the actual halo part burns out so fast its rediculous, the most i've heard of one lasting is about 6 months, then you either have no halo's working, or one working and one not (Which looks really dumb). They are not bright for driving at night either, all they do is focus your headlight beam lower and conentrate it below a certain point, but if you ask me, the ebay projectors do a really bad job at it. Skip ebay projectors, join an Integra forum online and get projector retrofits done, they will be more expensive, but at least they will last you!
Which brand of halo headlight is the best for Acura Integra '99?Spyder is a great name. I have em in my 98 gsr and they look really nice, I've only had em for about half a year but so i can't say much about reliability. But I've never heard of anybody having problems with theirs.

A bird flew into my light. I now need to replace the entire assembly. I bought it, and cannot find anywhere that tells me HOW to do this. I know I have to first disconnect the electrical connection but I cannot get it off!!!!! I press on the small tab on the back and try to slide the whole plug down but it won't move. My knuckles are bleeding from scraping them . . .
The old bulb won't rotate and come out without first removing the electrical plug so I am stuck.
BTW, I would look in my manual but it was stolen last year :(

it's easy enough mate, flip the bonnet %26amp; then you got the plastic cover on the back of the head light which you need to take off,thats to disconnect the bulbs then you'll see a couple of plastic plugs, you need to turn them then pull out the light...i think you might have 1 screw to undo that would be on the bottom left of the light.%26amp; then the head light should pop out, it's not a hard job at all, soon as you've got the bonnet up you should be able to see what is holding it in %26amp; go from there. good luck!

Changing headlights on a 2002 Ford Focus?
One of the headlights on my car is out. We bought a new bulb today, but the auto parts store wanted something like $65 to put it in. It looks like it should be simple to put in but I am having problems. We were able to take the cover off, and remove the wires, but we cannot get the bulb out. There seems to be a wire clip holding it in; but I cannot figure out how to remove the clip to take the bulb out to replace it. How would I do it?

The retainer wire is held in place on the bottom by a screw and clip on the bottom and is locked into a plastic clip on top. To remove the wire, push the wire down and towards the passenger side of the car, it will dislodge and you can then lower it to remove the bulb. Once the bulb has been changed, you want to replace the wire the same way to protect the plastic clip

Lights, I think you have to remove the entire plastic cover with the flaps, pop each plastic screw out with a screwdriver (they probably don't unscrew, this is the most stupid thing Ford uses) and the headlights are removable by unscrewing the nuts holding each headlight on. When you replace that plastic cover, use plastic push pins that are available at any auto parts store . They have a wide top of the pin and flanges. You can easily replace those in the future (they also will pop out and can't be used again).

Open the hood. The headlamp retainer %26quot;speed clips%26quot; are under the black plastic shield. To remove the shield, remove the little plastic %26quot;rivets%26quot;. These %26quot;rivets%26quot; have a center pin and an outer housing. Using a flat screwdriver, gently pry up on the center pin. When it is about 1/4 inch up, pull the pin straight up and out with a pliers. Then, using a flat screwdriver, gently pry up on the outer housing of the rivet. It should come up easily. Put the pin back into the rivet housing about 1/4 of an inch and set it aside. There are two different sizes of these rivets, the larger, fatter ones go in the front center of the plastic shield. Once you have all of the plastic rivets removed, take out the plastic shield and set it aside. You can TRY taking out only half of the rivets, but the shield will keep flopping back into place--take all of the rivets out and remove the shield. Look at the headlamp assembly. It has two metal strips that hold it in place, located behind the star-shaped screws. These are the %26quot;speed clips%26quot;. The one toward the middle of the car can be removed completely; the one toward the outside of the car pops up, but not out. To pop them up, gently pry the very top backward with a flat blade screwdriver and at the same time, pull up on the top rim with a pliers (or pry up on the rim with another flat blade screwdriver). You must pry them backward because they have a dimple that holds them in place. When the clips are unlocked, the headlamp assembly can be removed by rocking it and rotating the front of the headlamp upward. Do not adjust the star-shaped screws. Good luck with the black plastic ring that holds the headlamp bulb in place; I broke mine. Twist the black plastic ring counter clockwise one quarter turn or so. You can now remove the bulb from the headlamp assembly. Before you do, put on some eye protection goggles. Take the bulb out of the headlamp assembly. Unplug the bulb from the wiring. Discard of the old bulb carefully--halogen bulbs are under pressure and can shatter. Now take the new bulb out of its packaging without touching the glass. Plug it into the wiring. CAREFULLY seat the bulb into the headlamp assembly without touching the bulb's glass. Make sure that it is completely seated. Now carefully replace the black plastic retaining ring and rotate it one quarter turn clockwise to lock the bulb into the headlamp assembly (I broke mine so do this carefully). Re-install the headlamp assembly into the car; start with the headlamp facing up and rotate it down and level as you insert it. Then slide the %26quot;speed clips%26quot; back into place. They should %26quot;click%26quot; into place. Make sure that the headlamp is locked into place by the speed clips on both sides. Test the high beams and low beams. Replace the plastic shield using the dirt patterns to guide where it should go over and where it should go under. To replace the plastic rivets (remember the bigger ones are in the center of the car), make sure the pin is only inserted a little way, push the outer housing into the hole, when the outer housing is fully inserted into the hole, push down on the pin until it is seated. Close the hood. once hood is opened. has a couple of stickers on it. this goes from fender to fender.
1.remove it. it is held it by 8 push in retainers. remove those by partially removing the center and the entire retainer shoutd pull out. there are two different sizes so pay attention to where they came from. larger diameters ones go in center and smaller ones on the outside. the cover slides out from under the front grill cover and pulls away.
2. then look down at the headlight to remove. behind it you will see two stamped steel retainers that are folded over at the top. these need to be fulled up. dirt can make these hard to pull. once loose, pull out the entire headlamp assembly.
3. remove the bulb, the headlamp bulb is held in by a large black retainer. its easier to unplug the wire pigtail at this point.
lift up the hook that holds it in place with a screwdriver. but careful not to break them. then rotate the large black retainer
and pull it away. the bulb will fall out.
4. DO NOT touch the glass of the new bulb. the oils on your hands cause excess heat and can shatter new bulb.
install new bulb into the headlamp assm. it needs to be orientated in a specific spot. just turn it around to find correct position. then install the black retainer, careful not to break it. they WILL break if installed incorrectly.
5. to reinstall headlalmp assm, there are plastic guides that must go back into place. to help, spray some wd40 on them to aid in assembly. these go through the metal frame and those metal retainers you removed are what hold these in place and hold the assm in place. then reinstall the metal retainers, also use wd40. once intstalled reverse the teardown porcedure.
once done, check headlamp operation.

once hood is opened. has a couple of stickers on it. this goes from fender to fender.
1.remove it. it is held it by 8 push in retainers. remove those by partially removing the center and the entire retainer shoutd pull out. there are two different sizes so pay attention to where they came from. larger diameters ones go in center and smaller ones on the outside. the cover slides out from under the front grill cover and pulls away.

I have the composite beams and bought Silver star lights. I can't get my hand in the small space to unclip the lights. I tried to take the four little screws out and tried to pull the grill down out of the way but the beams are mounted to the truck not the plastic grill. Your car probably uses a H9007 or a H9004 bulb. You have what is called %26quot;composite headlights.%26quot; That means the lense is one part and the bulb is replaceable from the back. You might be able to reach the bulb from the back of the housing. All you do is open the hood and look behind the back part that the lense is mounted to. There should be a pigtail that plugs into the back of the bulb. There is a plastic retaining ring that holds in the bulb. The way I take out the bulb is to turn the ring and remove the bulb, ring, and pigtail all at the same time. Then I pull the pigtail off of the bulb and discard it. Install the bulb in the hole in the back of the headlight assembly taking care not to touch the glass part of the bulb. Touching it will cause it to blow out within 2 weeks. If you touch it just wipe it off with a paper towel soaked in alcohol to remove the finger oils. After it is in the hole and seated, (the little tab that the pigtail locks onto should be on top,) put the plastic retaining ring on and turn it to lock it into place. Don't know how to change the headlight in a VW New Beetle?? I do. here's how.?
I have a 2004 Beetle convertible. And just recently changed it myself. The dealer will try to tell you there is no way you can do that, and that you need a %26quot;special%26quot; tool. But that isn't true.
Here are the directions. Hope they work for you :)
1.Pull the lever to open the hood inside the left side under your steering wheel.
2. Open the hood.
3.There is a black plastic lever on the column to the Passenger's side view same on the Driver's side.
4.Push it so that it %26quot;loosens%26quot; the column holding the light casing.
5. Gently push the column forward to get the entire casing for the headlight bulb out.
6.Unhook the wires attached to the light.
7.Take the light out on a table and unclip the black tab.
8.Unhooked the clips on the side of the casing, and then the wire clip holding the bulb. (Close the clip the same way you opened it) .
9. Touch only the metal part or use a paper towel to hold the new headlight bulb (The oils from our hands will make the halogen bulb not last as long.)

when i worked at a VW dealer, i sold people the bulbs and let them do it themselves... many of them couldn't, the typical VW owner isn't capable of the steps you just listed.

Something like the Sylvania Silverstars or the GE Nighthawks will give you a whiter light but they are still regular bulbs. Without going into it too much, HID lights work completely differently and don't give off light the same way. This means that the reflector in your bike is not designed for the way that HID light give off their light, so the beam pattern will be all wrong. You could probably get a kit if you really wanted to but I wouldn't recommend it. I think in most places it is illegal to put HID lights in something that wasn't designed for them.

The older sealed beam types you replace the whole lamp assembly. There is either a round or square chrome retaining ring around the headlight with 3 or 4 phillips head screws that must be removed from the front. Usually not too difficult but on some vehicles you may have to remove some of the grill work to get to them. Just be sure you don't mess with the 2 adjuster screws, (Top and Side) On the newer style where only the bulb is replaced, you have to remove them from the backside. There should be a locking plastic collar that has to be twisted to the left until it releases. You should then be able to pull the bulb and connecting wires straight back and remove the wires from the bulb. The bulb is held in place by a rubber O-ring and may take a little effort to remove. You then push the new bulb into the socket making sure the flat part of the electrical connector is facing up. You should feel it click into place. Replace the plastic retaining ring and plug the wire back into it. Changing the bulb itself is not that difficult but getting to them can be. It's not uncommon to have to remove your battery or air intake to gain access. As for touching the bulb, it probably won't make it explode but the oils from your skin will make a %26quot;hot spot%26quot; and cause it to burn out prematurely. Don't touch it with bare skin. However, sealing it up should work once you clean the bulb out. You problem is in the frame of the headlight itsels. So you take out a couple bolts, maybe a little of your grill...and you remove the assemble and check it...See if you can tell how the air and moisture. Roughly...Don't go to Dodge to buy it or anything else. Go to Auto Zone, or ANYWHERE else....But NOT the dealer. When you put it back in...drive it up to a wall....using the screws that are on it...adjust your headlights accordingly. Using the screwdrive to adjust the lights to make sure you have them aimed correctly. THAT is very important..To be up to a wall...garage door...anything that you can see the lights images as you adjust them.

Ok, took all of 10 min. and that included going into the garage to get my socket set. Lights are held in with two 6 or 7 inch long bolts 9/32 socket to get them out. Unplug the sockets from back of light and swap them out.

I used to own a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse and changed the tail lights by myself. The headlight on my outlander went out Christmas Eve and when I called Mitsubishi to quote a replacement, they said $545 ! YIKES! How do I change the headlights in a 2001 Grand Am?
I have read the owner's manual and it says to %26quot;lift the clips.%26quot; Where are the clips? I've taken off the protective plastic piece to keep idiots out of the engine but can't figure out how to remove the headlight assembly. The pictue in the manual doesn't look like the inside of my car... They should be just infront of the metal crossmember that runs from fender to fender.

-Remove the front air deflector. (plastic cover over headlamp)
-Apply light pressure to the headlamp lens to hold the headlamp in place while disconnecting the retainers. (press against)
-Lift up the headlamp retainers to release. IMPORTANT: Note the location and position of the headlamp adjuster retainers and the locator tab.
-Remove the headlamp, pulling straight forward from car
-Rotate the headlamp bulb/socket(s) counterclockwise to release. Remove the headlamp bulb(s).
Installation just go back up the list.

if you mean the low beam bulb, on the driver's side take out the air box . on the passenger take out the washer fluid filler neck by turning it left 1/4 turn. for either side remove the rubber cover, press the metal hold down spring and slide it towards the bulb. pull the bulb out of the housing and pull the connector off the bulb, not the ground ring. then reverse. don't touch the new bulb.

The bulb is released by twisting it clockwise (looking at it from the back of the light unit).
Once released the bulb will need to be pulled quite firmly to release it.
The new bulb the needs to be plugged into the holder, with out touching the glass on the bulb.
Once it is plugged back in to the bulb holder, it is fitted back into the headlight by iserting it back in to position and twisting the bulb holder anti-clockwise.
They can be a bit tricky on these clio, especially if it has air con. You may find that you will keep scratching yourself on a black clip that holds a pipe in position on the inner wing.
This clip can carefully be removed if you need too.

If you open the hood of the truck look for the wires and connector behind the headlight reflector it should twist counterclocwise and using a clean papertowel or cotton cloth you can plug the new light into the socket and then put it back into the reflector turning it clockwise. hey, open bonnet, remove metal clip off the back plate of the headlamp, remove this cover, then pull of the plug off of the back of the bulb, there is then a metal spring clip which i believe u squeeze together and pull outwards. this will then allow the bulb to be removed. then to fit the new bulbj ust do these steps in reverse. it is important not to touch the glass of the bulb with your hands as the moisture in your hands will muck up the bulb. this is due to them being halogen. i also advise putting a small amount of grease or similar on the plug connection this just makes fitting the plug easier and keep the water out. hope this helps.

Today I changed the passenger-side headlight bulb in my 2003 hyundai elantra. in order to access the socket for the bulb, i had to remove this weirdly-shaped wire that was helping to hold the socket in place. i now don't know how to replace the wire thing, because its shape is kind of confusing and i can't see into the bulb housing well enough to figure it out. i also can't look at the driver's side to see how that one is held in, because of this plate that restricts my access to it.
i don't have a manual, and can't find diagrams online.

You're not alone! Its a stupid design, but you have to get used to it. Try taking a look at the other side to visualize the position of the goofy little clip. Yes, it must be re-installed to keep the bulb in place.

I just bought some new headlights for my Mustang, however when I went to change them out I couldn't find a way to get the old ones out of the actual headlight housing. 1.Open your hood and look on top of each headlight housing.There will be 2 slide locks on each headlight.They look like this I_I .
2.Grab each slide by this little handle I_I.
3.Pull straight up on each one.--you may need some pliers to help you.
4.After both slides have been removed,the entire headlight will slide out.No kidding!!
5.Replace your bulbs since you have room now.
6.Just replace in the reverse order.There is no adjusting to the headlights either when put back in.
7.You do not need to remove the battery!!

with the hood open you have to take the plastic cover off that spans the font of the engine bay above the headlights so you can gain access to the headlight screws(take a screwdriver and put in under the center part that stick out a bit and pry it up, then pull it out). there should be 2 screws that hold the head light in OR there might be 2 metal tabs that you have to pull up on to get the headlight loose, it might take a good tug on the headlamp to get it out so you can take the bulb out. putting it on just push it in to its place and push down on tabs or screw it back in, and reinstall the plastic piece with the push in clipsI need to know how to change a headlight in a 2002 grand am se. can anyone help me?Be careful when you are pulling up the tabs to make sure that they do not get caught as one side of the tabs is bent in the other direction to make a tight fit. Also be careful with taking the plastic piece off of the bulb that holds the bulb against the headlight. I had some problems with this
Otherwise, the directions are spot on, the plastic cover is easy to take off, and the tabs pull up with a bit of work. The tabs are the hard part.

I need to know how to change a headlight in a 2002 grand am se. can anyone help me?you have to make sure not to snap the black plastic piece that holds the bulb against the headlight.Otherwise, the directions are spot on, the plastic cover is easy to take off, and the tabs pull up with a bit of work. The tabs are the hard part.

If you're just trying to change the bulb, unplug the wire harness and turn it approx 1/4 turn to the left and it will slide out.

You have a choice, either:
Take out the little grill below the windscreen to gain access to the back of the headlight. Then you reach in and remove the old bulb and replace. Unfortunately, you will need to break your arm in 3 places and grow fingers 2 feet long to do this easily as you will be working blind, at full stretch in a very confined space. So for the next time I did one I used option 2 which is:
Remove the entire front panel of the car, remove the headlight, change the bulb, and refit the front panel. This sounds ridiculous, but it's dead easy and takes about 20 minutes as opposed to 2.5 hours of fiddling.
To remove the front panel:
unscrew and remove the arial for the radio.
Remove the door mirrors (3 torx screws each from inside the car) and let the mirrors hang.
remove the little silver grill (may have fog lights) - this achieved with a small screwdriver that can be used to release 5(?) plastic clips moulded into the grill that hold it in place.
Behind where you have removed the little grill you will see 2 further torx screws that need to come out (1 on each side).
Open the driver and passenger doors, you will see approximately 5 torx screws (on each side) that you need to take out to release the front panel.
Lift off the front panel carefully, gently unplugging the indicator repeaters as you do it.
Headlight is simply screwed into place with all screws visible.
And as the Haynes manual would no doubt say %26quot;refitting is the reversal of removal%26quot;

As per the manual you take it to a Smart garage (I've had two done) the reason being that you have to access it via one of the access vents, which are very small, and you can't actually see what you're doing. Once you have located the rear of the head light, there is a large round black plastic lock ring. Turn to the left 陆 a turn. Remove the bulb. When handling the new bulb, DO NOT touch the glass with your bare hands. Install the bulb in the rear of the light. Install lock ring.
